These headphones use Bluetooth 5.2 technology and support multipoint and fast pairing. There is a USB port for charging purposes, however they lack 3.5mm audio jack support.

The Sony | Headphones Connect app enables you to customize music to meet your personal taste through EQ settings and includes DSEE technology for better sound.

Features

The WH-CH520 headphones do not disappoint when it comes to features and controls. Sony’s reliable and feature-packed Headphones Connect app for iOS and Android provides access to most of their functionality; including graphic EQ presets for sound tuning options as well as playback control customization and their digital audio enhancement engine that promises to upscale low bitrate files to higher resolutions without loss of quality.

These headphones are extremely convenient; they allow simultaneous connectivity with two Bluetooth devices at the same time for multi-device pairing and feature excellent noise isolation and a high-quality built-in microphone for phone calls.

The WH-CH520 boasts an innovative lightweight design, featuring soft ear cups and an adjustable headband with minimal clamping force for ultimate comfort on your head. Furthermore, these headphones boast cushioned ear pads which make wearing them for long periods of time a breeze – ideal for commuters, office workers, and students.

Design

Sony’s on-ear headphones are lightweight, comfortable and feature app support for multi-device pairing. Their headband can be adjusted to accommodate different head sizes while they feature soft earpads for comfort during long listening sessions.

These headphones provide adequate high-frequency noise isolation, but not as effectively as some of our test models. Without proper seal, however, moderate leakage could occur and allow other patrons or coworkers to hear your audio at noisy cafes or offices with less volume than you want.

These wireless headphones connect wirelessly with mobile devices using Bluetooth 5.2, pairing up to two at once and maintaining a connection for up to 50 hours. Unfortunately, they don’t support higher bitrate codecs such as LDAC; however Sony’s DSEE technology provides clear audio after compression. In addition, their app, Sony Headphones Connect allows convenient audio customization such as graphic EQ and virtual soundstage features as well as firmware updates; you can even enable video mode for streaming content.

Sound

Sony’s WH-CH520 headphones deliver all of the essentials expected in on-ear headphones: Bluetooth 5.2 with AptX HD support, a USB port for quick charging, and exceptional battery life. Furthermore, there’s even an inbuilt voice assistant and equalizer to help enhance music listening experiences.

Listening to audio content through the WH-CH520 headphones reveals its imaging performance to be strong, with a small boost in midbass making kick drums sound punchy while there is an abrupt peak in midtreble which causes sibilants (S and T sounds in dialogue) to sound dull and piercing.

Unfortunately, the on-ear design of the WH-CH520 doesn’t seal your ears well enough to block out ambient noise effectively. While it can only partially reduce bass-range noise such as that caused by bus engines or truck engines, it does an effective job at cutting down on treble-range noise such as the sharp highs produced by electric guitar riffs.

Comfort

Comfort is of utmost importance when listening for extended periods. The WH-CH520 are lightweight headphones with adequate clamping force and soft ear pads, making them relatively easy to wear for long sessions. Unfortunately, they’re not portable and tend to get quite warm while being used; furthermore, their on-ear design doesn’t isolate your ears as effectively from ambient noise than over-ear or in-ear designs can.

The Sony WH-CH520 wireless headphones offer plenty of features at an economical price point, including support for multipoint connections, support for companion apps and longer battery life.

These headphones offer high-quality Bluetooth connection with audio upscaling from DSEE, but unfortunately lack a 3.5mm audio jack to connect to an in-flight entertainment system and don’t support higher bitrate codecs for streaming content or call quality. That being said, they make for great budget wireless headphones to use for music listening and calls – as their price of USD 38/ Rs 4,990 makes them very accessible options.

Battery life

Sony claims these headphones have an estimated battery life of 50 hours, which should see you through several workdays without needing to recharge. A full charge takes around two hours while three minutes of charging yield 1.5 hours of playback time according to Sony.

These headphones feature multipoint connectivity, allowing you to simultaneously connect two devices at the same time. Switch easily between your phone and tablet by just pressing one button!

WH-CH520 headphones stand out due to their outstanding noise canceling ability. Although these on-ear headphones do not feature active noise cancellation (ANC), they still provide effective noise blocking capabilities so your music comes through loud and clear.

Overall, the WH-CH520 headphones are an outstanding budget option for commutes and travel. Their sound quality meets features well and offer great noise isolation capabilities, making this pair ideal for commuters on tight budgets. However, those seeking active noise cancellation (ANC) might wish to consider alternative headphones like Anker Life Q30 and JBL Tune 520BT Wireless which have similar features but boast better noise isolation properties – both are slightly more costly options yet offer similar noise isolation properties than the WH-CH520.
